These days, however, I like my games weird, complex, engaging, stimulating, thrilling (preferably not sexy, though, we’re not there yet). During my teens I could enjoy a game even if it didn’t offer anything intellectually or artistically (although I still had Metal Gear and Max Payne for that). Time was, I’d be really into mindless shooters. Many excellent writers have covered the topic, and I’d very much recommend taking some of it in, really interesting stuff. This isn’t going to be an exhaustive article for two reasons I’m still savouring HL2, making it last, and also because I’m merely a reader of this area.
